Barbiecore Is The New Celeb-Favorite Aesthetic

Barbie has been a fashion icon for decades so it’s no surprise there’s now a whole new aesthetic named after her: Barbiecore. If you’ve been seeing pink everywhere lately – among celebs, on the runways, and on social media – that’s Barbiecore in action.

Fueled by the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie, and also by the Valentino Pink PP collection that included entire looks – dresses, tights, shoes, and all – in the Mattel icon’s favorite hue, the trend has now invaded the closets of A-listers like Kim Kardashian, Anne Hathaway, and more.

Kim Kardashian

The reality star and SKIMS mogul took to Instagram in early June wearing an all-pink Balenciaga look consisting of a hoodie, the brand’s famous pantashoes, and the Hourglass bag (even her sheets are pink!).

The Valentino Pink Squad

Valentino put on their Fall 2022 Couture show early this month, and Anne Hathaway sat front row wearing an all-pink look from the Italian fashion house. Her outfit consisted of a sequined mini dress, towering platform pumps, and the Roman Stud bag.

The Ocean’s 8 star wasn’t the only attendee who rocked Barbiecore during the show. Florence Pugh made an appearance as well wearing an ethereal pink gown, platform pumps, and stud earrings, all by Valentino.

Emily in Paris’s Ashley Park, meanwhile, opted for a deep-V pink mini dress and matching platform pumps (swipe to see).

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens brought the Barbiecore trend to the 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards held in early June when she rocked a look from the Valentino Pink PP collection. Her dress was a custom off-the-shoulder baby doll mini that boasted a cleavage-baring neckline. She paired it with the same sky-high platform pumps worn by Hathaway, Pugh, and Park.

Lizzo, Megan Fox, And Simone Ashley

Also last month, Lizzo attended the FYC screening of her dance competition show, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, wearing a flirty pink mini dress by Valentino, along with matching opera gloves, tights, and pointy platform pumps. She uploaded a photo of the look on her Instagram, which prompted a comment saying, “You look like u just came out of a Mattel Box 😍 #BarbieBabe I love you 💕”

Other celebs who have rocked the trend include Megan Fox and Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley.

Fox wore two pink looks for two consecutive days in late June – a body-con mini dress and then a metallic crop-top and skirt combo.

Ashley, meanwhile, opted for a caped Valentino jumpsuit when she attended the 2022 BAFTAs in March.
