If there’s one trend from the Y2K era that the fashion crowd is going extra crazy about these days, it’s the Fendi Baguette. The It bag from the late 1990s and early 2000s is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and it was feted with a show during New York Fashion Week attended by the who’s who of the industry.
One notable front rower was Sarah Jessica Parker, whose Sex and the City alter ego Carrie Bradshaw catapulted the Baguette to fame when she had hers stolen (remember the iconic line, “It’s a Baguette”?) in an episode back in 2000. So it was a homecoming of sorts for the Italian It bag to have an entire show dedicated to it in the city where it first became famous.
