You might be tempted to dismiss Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s haircare line, Anomaly, as just another celebrity brand in an already crowded beauty space. But the 40-year-old Indian actress founded the label with more than just profit in mind.

Anomaly’s uniqueness goes beyond its name (unusual for a beauty brand, TBH), which she chose because she wanted her line to deviate “from what is standard, normal, or expected,” she explained in an Instagram Q&A. Her product range is special in that it’s a combination of her passion for the environment and for hair.

What Sets Anomaly Apart

“My hair is my crowning glory. When it feels soft and looks vibrant and healthy, I know I’m going to have a great day,” the Baywatch star wrote on Anomaly’s website. “You shouldn’t have to choose between what works and what’s good for you or the planet. Make beautiful choices.”

To make her brand “good for the planet,” her packaging is made from 100 percent recycled trash. She also told Elle, “You've seen a lot of skincare be sustainable, clean, vegan, cruelty-free, but you haven’t really seen that in hair care much. I wanted superior products, no parabens, and sulphates, but super clean.”

Clarifying Shampoo

Chopra Jonas took to Instagram recently to talk about her range of shampoos. “The idea behind Anomaly’s shampoos are they are made to make your hair stronger by not stripping them of the essential oils that are required to keep your hair strong, to keep your scalp healthy,” she says in the video.

First, she introduces the Clarifying Shampoo ($5.99 on Anomaly’s website). “I love using this Clarifying Shampoo because it has eucalyptus and it has charcoal,” she says.

Gentle Shampoo

Next, she talks about the Gentle Shampoo ($5.99). “If you need a gentle shampoo, for example, because you’ve been washing your hair a lot or it’s summer, this is something you can use every single day,” she says. “And your hair will still feel hydrated. It has grapefruit and rosemary.”

Hydrating Shampoo

Lastly, Chopra Jonas explains the benefits of the Hydrating Shampoo ($5.99). “Every time I wash my hair with the Hydrating Shampoo, even before I condition it, I just – I feel like I can take my hands through it and it’s really soft,” she says. “It’s made of aloe vera and coconut oil. Everybody knows coconut oil is the best for your hair, and we already put it in your shampoo. So that’s the shampoos. Anomaly, for your best hair yet.”
