Barely-there looks aren’t the only way to grab attention on the red carpet. Lately, celebs have been stealing the spotlight in more covered-up ensembles that deliver just as much impact. Never underestimate the power of a hood – even the most minimalist of designs get a sophisticated boost with that extra bit of fabric!

Case in point: During New York Fashion Week in September, Katie Holmes dialed up the drama when she attended the Tom Ford show in a hooded gown from the brand. The elegant black number definitely made the event feel like a major red carpet (swipe for more pics).

Ahead, take a look at more celebs rocking the hooded dress trend.

Addison Rae And Laura Harrier

Addison Rae made a grand entrance at the 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards in November in a two-tone high-low dress from Gareth Pugh’s Fall 2012 collection, which she simply styled with pointy black pumps.

Also last month, Laura Harrier was on hand at the LACMA Art + Film Gala wearing a brown column dress from Saint Laurent’s Spring 2023 collection (which had a lot of hooded pieces).

Bella Hadid And Amber Valletta

In October, Bella Hadid shared this carousel of photos on Instagram taken during the Fashion Trust Arabia Prize in Qatar, where she wore a vintage black Alaia gown from 1986. During the same trip, she also graced the Emerge Gala rocking a second hooded look, this time a flowing red number from Schiaparelli’s Spring 2023 collection.

Below, Amber Valletta chose a one-sleeve green gown from Saint Laurent’s Spring 2023 collection when she attended the 2022 WSJ Innovator Awards in November.

Alessandra Ambrosio And Lori Harvey

Just last week, Alessandra Ambrosio headed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Hia Magazine Gala. She was a standout at the event in a draped, bright orange gown from Alberta Ferretti’s Spring 2023 collection featuring a low back and high slit, which she styled with gold bracelets and nude heels.

In August, Lori Harvey attended the premiere of Netflix’s Me Time sporting a gray and white dress from Greg Lauren’s Spring 2015 collection.

Below, she rocked another hooded look in October for Beyonce’s party in Paris, this time a vintage burgundy Alaia.

Kate Moss And Tessa Thompson

Of course, celebs can go hooded and sexy at the same time, too. Kate Moss opted for a sheer olive-green number from Saint Laurent’s Spring 2023 collection when she graced the WSJ Innovator Awards (alongside another hooded beauty, Amber Valletta).

And Tessa Thompson chose a sparkling fishnet gown from Interior during the 2022 Venice Film Festival.
